Ingredients

Falafels
  • 1 portion dried chickpeas or red lentils minus 10 g
  • 10g besan (chickpea flour) or red lentil flour
  • handful fresh herbs (optional)
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 small red onion (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • vegetables or salad to serve

Instructions

  1. Add chickpeas to bowl and cover with water. Set aside to soak for at least 4 hours
  2. Drain chickpeas and add to Thermomix or food processor
  3. Add all other ingredients and combine 10secs/speed5. Scrap down sides and repeat as needed until you have a textured thick batter (or on medium speed in your food processor).
  4. Shape into small golf ball size balls and shallow fry in ghee or coconut oil or bake in the oven or air fryer until golden brown.
  5. Serve with your choice of vegetables or salad.
